Service

Make every mention of your business agree with Google

Old phone numbers, previous addresses and duplicate listings on UK directories quietly undermine your Business Profile. We find them, fix them, and build the citations that still carry weight.

What the service covers

  • Citation audit — every mention of your business we can find, with the name, address and phone recorded exactly as shown and mismatches flagged.
  • Clean-up — corrections, claims and duplicate removals on each source, with the login details handed to you at the end.
  • Building — the UK general directories, data aggregators and the industry sources relevant to your category, filled in fully with categories, description, hours and photos.
  • Structured data — LocalBusiness schema on your website so Google has a canonical source for the correct data.
  • Monitoring — quarterly recheck of the top sources, because directories re-import bad data.

The three we always find

  1. A previous premises still listed on Yell and 192.com with the old phone number.
  2. A second Google profile created by a former employee or a well-meaning family member.
  3. Apple Maps showing the business 200 metres from where it is, because nobody claimed it.

None of these show up in your Google account. All of them cost rankings.

Frequently asked questions

Do citations still matter in 2026?

Less than they did in 2015, more than most people think. Google uses them to confirm that a business exists at the address it claims, and conflicting data is one of the quietest reasons a profile stalls. Volume is no longer the goal; accuracy and the right handful of sources are.

What does NAP mean?

Name, Address, Phone. Google expects the three to match, character for character where possible, on your profile, your website and every directory that mentions you. "Unit 4" on one and "Unit four" on another is a minor issue; an old phone number on twelve directories is not.

Which UK directories matter?

Yell, Thomson Local, Scoot, 192.com, Cylex, Hotfrog and FreeIndex for general coverage; Bing Places and Apple Business Connect because they feed other systems; and then whichever trade or professional bodies apply to you (Checkatrade, TrustATrader, Law Society, NHS, Which? Trusted Traders, etc.). We publish our current list in the blog and keep it updated.

Do you use automated submission services?

For the top-tier UK aggregators we use the official channels. For everything else the work is done by hand, because automated services create the duplicates we spend the most time cleaning up.
