Google Business Profile optimisation that Google can read

Your Business Profile is 60–70% of what decides your local pack position. Most are set up in twenty minutes and never touched again. We rebuild it field by field against the profiles that are beating you.

What we optimise

  • Primary and secondary categories — tested against the live pack for each target search, not picked from a dropdown.
  • Services and products — full lists with descriptions, so long-tail searches match your profile rather than a competitor's.
  • Business description and attributes — written for relevance and conversion, with every applicable attribute set (accessibility, payments, amenities, identity).
  • Photos — audit of existing images, removal of low-quality ones, a shot list for you, and a monthly upload schedule with geodata and descriptive filenames.
  • Posts and offers — a fortnightly cadence tied to your services and season.
  • Q&A — seeded with the questions customers actually ask, answered by you, so the space is not filled by strangers.
  • Hours, service areas and pin placement — checked against what Google shows, including special hours and holidays.
  • Landing page link and UTM tracking — so profile traffic is measured properly in analytics.

What we look for first

Before touching anything we pull the profiles of the three businesses in the pack for your top five searches and compare category, service count, review count and velocity, photo count and post frequency. The gaps are the plan.

We also check for the things that quietly hold a profile back: an old duplicate listing, a pin in the wrong place, a category Google has since renamed, or an address format that conflicts with your citations.

Included in every monthly plan

One-off setup or ongoing management

One-off optimisation

A full rebuild of the profile delivered within ten working days, with a document explaining what changed and why, and a maintenance checklist for your team. Best for businesses with in-house marketing.

Monthly management

The same rebuild, then we keep it moving: photos, posts, Q&A, review responses, service updates and monitoring for suspensions, duplicate listings and unwanted edits. Included in all plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is Google Business Profile the same as Google My Business?

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021. The listing, the map pin and the reviews are the same thing.

How many categories should I have?

One primary category that exactly describes your core business and as many secondary categories as are genuinely true — usually three to eight. Adding categories you do not operate in dilutes relevance and is a suspension trigger.

Should my business name include keywords?

Only if that is your real registered trading name on signage and documents. "Smith & Co Plumbing" is fine; "Smith & Co Plumbing – Emergency Plumber London 24/7" breaches the naming policy and gets profiles suspended.

How often should the profile be updated?

Photos at least monthly, posts weekly or fortnightly, and a review of services, hours and attributes every quarter. Google measures activity, and a static profile slowly loses ground to active competitors.

Can you optimise a profile I have not verified yet?

We can prepare everything, but Google only shows an unverified profile in limited ways. We will guide you through video verification, which is now the default in the UK, and set the profile up so verification is approved first time.
